The SLC Classroom

Seashore's students are grouped into multiage modules instead of traditional grades.  Low student-teacher ratios are an important aspect of SLC's philosophy (no more than 20 students per teacher).

The teachers are able to form heterogeneous instructional groups, homogeneous interest groups, or meet the individual learning styles of various students all within the comfort of their own classroom.  In this atmosphere, students are able to excel or receive extra help without being labeled because they are accustomed to many different levels of learning going on in their class.  Not everyone learns on the same time table!

Special Needs Students

SLC believes in inclusion and accommodates the special needs of children in the least restrictive environment.  Special needs students will be served in the classroom through differentiated curriculum modifications as identified in the individual education plans and accelerated learning stages when appropriate.
