Preschool
Island Preschool is a state licensened, educational facility serving potty-trained children three to five years of age.
We are currently engaged in our second year of mentoring as a ** Texas School Ready! provider.
We offer a 7:30am to 2:30pm program. After school care is available until 6:00pm. See details under After School Care link.

** Texas School Ready! is the official site of the Texas School Readiness Certification System, a program that certifies preschool education classrooms that effectively prepare their students for kindergarten.
Texas School Ready! is based on the actual linking between:
- the quality instructional practices that must be in place in a preschool program to get children ready for kindergarten AND
- the children actually achieving scores showing they wer on track in the areas of reading and social skills when they went to kindergarten.
Texas School Ready! is administered by the Texas State Center for Early Childhood Development, housed in the Children's Learning Institute (CLI) at the University of Texas-Houston. CLI has very in-depth experience in conducting early education research. TSR research and the research in the field at large shows clearly that if children do not experience a high quality preschool program that focuses on getting them ready for school, they will often have trouble when they go to kindergarten.
To maximize early development and learning, our curriculum is focused on the following:
- physical well-being, motor development and independance
- social and emotional development
- quality approaches toward learning
- language development and
- cognition and general knowledge.

Now Enrolling for 2009-2010 School Year
School begins August 19, 2009
Enrollment forms can be printed from the School Forms link. Completed forms and $100 non-refundable deposit is due to secure spot. There are a few part-time openings in the 3yr preschool room. The 4 yr Pre-kindergarten is full at this time. You are welcome to add your child to the waiting list.
