The Island Foundation's story is one that can be repeated in any community. It is about neighbors taking the steps needed to ensure that their community developes into a strong, nurturing neighborhood for the benefit of everyone. Individuals live in any area, but individuals working together for a common goal build a commuinty. The positive energy created by a community effort seeps into all aspects of neighborhood life. Pioneer "barn raisings" were hard work, but they built relationships as well as barns, and folks had fun in the creation! It is heart warming to see the benefit of a united community.
